“I don’t think he knows what he wants,” said Alex Gonzaga in explaining the “mixed signals” she has been receiving from her “My Rebound Girl” costar Joseph Marco for almost two years now.
“There were times when I felt that he really liked me, but there were also times when I felt he didn’t,” Alex said at the recent press conference of the Regal Films-produced movie.
Alex recalled the time when Joseph gave her a bracelet on Valentine’s Day. “What he did surprised me, but I’m not sure if he is serious. I don’t want to assume.”
The actress added she appreciated Joseph’s joining a motorcade she had organized for her dad during the election campaign. Alex’s father, Carlito “Bonoy” Gonzaga is currently serving his second term as Vice Mayor of Cainta, Rizal.
Asked whether she was dating other guys, the 28-year-old actress confessed: “There were guys who expressed their interest in going out with me, but their [interest] usually didn’t last long.”
She added that her Mommy Pinty, who’s known for being too strict with her and elder sister Toni, has changed a lot since Toni got married. “She’s more lenient now because she knows I’m already of age, and that I’m a responsible girl anyway. She still reminds me to follow my curfew, though.”
For his part, Joseph, 27, admitted that he courted Alex shortly after they finished working on the ABS-CBN teleseries, “Pure Love,” in 2014.
“She did say she wasn’t ready yet. I don’t want to force it. I want love to develop between us naturally. She knows that I’m single and that she’s special to me.”
“I wish to finally meet my Direk Paul,” referring to Paul Soriano, Toni’s longtime boyfriend and eventually, husband. “I’m not the type who likes to hop from one relationship to another. In fairness to Joseph, he has been a consistent friend for the past two years.”
Director Emman dela Cruz said he was lucky to do the project with Joseph and Alex because they made his work easier. “There was collaboration on the set. Alex would suggest lines to make the film funnier. Meanwhile, I noticed that Joseph really gave his all,” he said.
“My Rebound Girl,” will be in theaters on Sept. 28.
