Mocha Uson explains dance group’s performance in Bilibid prison

Mocha Girls dance group leader Mocha Uson admitted that they performed inside the national penitentiary sometime in 2012 and 2013, but said there was nothing wrong with it.

It was revealed during the House hearing on the drug trade inside the penitentiary that her group was among the entertainment personalities including singers Sharon Cuneta and Freddie Aguilar who had allegedly performed inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

Mocha Uson, a staunch supporter of President Duterte, explained that there were actually performers who visited the Bilibid prison from time to time to entertain the inmates .

“Totoo po na noong late 2012 or early 2013 kami po ay nagperform sa Bilibid. Marami pong nag perform doon sa event na yun. Ito po ay pormal na concert na dumaan po sa tamang proseso. Marami pong mga artista na nagsho-show dun at nagbibigay pag-asa sa mga bilanggo. Sa tingin ko naman po walang masama kung ito ay PORMAL na nanggaling sa opisyal ng BUCOR. Ang Mocha Girls ay involved po sa iba’t ibang charity shows kahit noon pa man,” she said on her blog site.

Mocha blasted the “yellows,” referring to members of the Liberal Party or allies of former President Benigno Aquino III, saying that since they could no longer defend Sen. Leila de Lima over serious allegations of coddling drug lords inside the NBP, they found a way to strike back at the President’s supporters by “misreading” the revelation of one of the witnesses in the House probe.

“Binibigyan lamang ito ng kulay ng ibang ANTI-DUTERTE dahil kami ay supporter ng ating Pangulo. Itong mga DILAW na ito ay hindi na maipagtanggol si De Lima kaya kung anu-anong issue ang gustong ungkatin. Tulad ng nabanggit ng witness, maraming mga artists ang nakapagperform na doon kasama na si SHARON CUNETA at FREDDIE AGUILAR. Ang nakakapagtaka lang ay bakit kami lang ang idinidiin at binibigyan ng kulay. Una sa lahat, hindi ko po kinahihiya iyon bakit? Tulad nga ng aking sinabi, walang masama kung ito ay dumaan sa tamang paraan. And for argument’s sake, kung bawal pala iyon hindi dapat ang mga Artista o Entertainer ang sisihin dapat ang pamunuan ng BUCOR at dating SEC DE LIMA dahil sila ang nag issue ng kaukulang permit upang makapag concert sa loob. Ngunit uulitin ko hindi ko ikinahihiya ito dahil ako at ang aking grupo ay nagbigay ng malinis na kasiyahan at pag-asa sa mga taong nagkamali sa lipunan,” she said.

The fierce Duterte supporter then asked De Lima to just answer the issues thrown at her and prove her innocence.  “DE LIMA, TOTOO BA NA IKAW AY TUMATANGGAP NG PAYOLA SA MGA INMATE? Kung HINDI sagutin mo isa-isa ang akusasyon sayo,” she ended. Clarizel Abanilla
