WATCH: Filipina is 4-chair turner in ‘The Voice Romania’
A Filipina singer has enthralled and charmed all four judges of “The Voice Romania 2016” (Vocea Romaniei 2016) during her blind auditions on Friday.
Rose Marie Velasquez, 28, of Arayat, Pampanga, sang “Rise Up,” a 2015 hit by Andra Day. All of the show’s judges—Grammy-nominated composer Marius Moga, Smiley, pop artist Loredana Groza and Tudor Chirilă—turned their chairs in hopes of having Velasquez in their teams.
“The way you sang fascinated me, ” Groza said.
“When my wife was pregnant and expecting our daughter, we thought to baptize [her] Rose Marie. But eventually, I decided to call [her] Maria. Now you came [as] Rose Marie and I hope to have [you on] my team, ” Moga said in Romanian, according to local site Libertatea. In addition, Chirilă praised the Filipina’s exceptional vocals. “We feel like [we were] in a soap opera in the Philippines,” he said.
In the end, Velazquez chose to be in Smiley’s team. Gianna Francesca Catolico/rga
