Demi Lovato, a pop star and former drug user herself, recently co-owned a drug rehabilitation center.
In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Lovato said that she is part of the CAST Centers, a rehabilitation and wellness institution based in Los Angeles, California. She was confined in the center in 2013 after she suffered a string of depression, bulimia, and substance abuse, Entertainment Weekly reported.
“Yeah, I was a nightmare. I would say … the word that I want to say, but it’s so inappropriate that I can’t,” Lovato told CBS correspondent Tracy Smith.
“It sounds ridiculous but, like, I kind of made a pact with God,” Lovato explained. “And I don’t even think you’re supposed to do that, but I was, like, I promised, ‘If you make me a singer one day, I’m going to use my voice for so much more than singing, and I’m going to help people with it.'”
The “Cool for the Summer” singer is thankful for the center’s effective program in helping her scuffle and mend her psychological ailments. “I’m now sitting here right now alive and more successful than I’ve ever been,” she pleasingly told Smith.
