Eddie Murphy returns to big screen in melodrama ‘Mr. Church’

After a four-year hiatus from Hollywood films, Eddie Murphy finally returns to the big screen with a lead role in the drama film “Mr. Church.”

During the film’s premiere in Hollywood on Tuesday, famous personalities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Christian Madsen, Lucy Fry, Arsenio Hall, McKenna Grace and Natalie Coughlin attended the “Beverly Hills Cop” actor’s “special night.”

“I usually don’t get stuff that’s written like this. This is dealing with cancer and people dying and I’ve never read anything like that before,” Murphy said during the premiere night’s screening, according to entertainment news site Variety. Moreover, he admitted to sobbing in tears after reading the movie’s script.

“When do they think they will hear me say something funny [in the future]? I don’t know because from here, I’m going back to the backyard to chill,” he added.

Murphy, 55, portrayed the role of Henry Joseph Church, a skilled cook who resides with a cancer-stricken mother and her little daughter in Los Angeles, California, in the ’70s.  The six-month contract with the family surprisingly protracted to 15 years after he became attached to them.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
