Triple celebration for Ogie Alcasid

/ 12:16 AM August 27, 2016

Ogie Alcasid is turning 49 today, Aug. 27. Does he fear growing old? “Not really,” he muses. “I have no problem with aging. It is a part of life that we must accept. —But, we should never lose the child in us!”

The event is a triple celebration for Ogie, whose visibility in various shows of the Kapamilya network has triggered the rumor that he will soon become its contract artist: First is the release of his 10-track album, “Ikaw Ang Buhay Ko,” which is dedicated to his wife, Regine Velasquez.

Music plays a vital role in Ogie and Regine’s lives. He shares, “I sing at home all the time. I thank my wife with a song, and say sorry through singing, too. Music heals.”

He says he’s surprised that even millennials are familiar with “Nandito Ako,” one of his personal favorites. At karaoke bars, “Pangako” and “Kailangan Kita” are among customers’ top picks.

Ogie topbills the intimate birthday concert, “Ayokong Tumanda,” at Music Museum tonight.
