Matteo Guidicelli is convinced that he has found “the one” in girlfriend Sarah Geronimo.
“I’m 26, and I’m done playing mind games with people. I know what I want for my future,” Matteo said during a recent media gathering for Sun Life Asset Management, which he endorses.
He said the two-year age gap between him and Sarah, who turned 28 on July 25, has never been an issue. “We’re not the same in a lot of things, but we complement each other. We influence each other to do good things. She changes me. She makes me feel like I have wings,” he said.
In turn, Matteo said he tried to influence Sarah to pursue sports, and to have a life outside show business. The couple recently joined a mountaineering group in climbing Mt. Pico de Loro in Nasugbu, Batangas.
“She recently got into pole dancing with G Force’s Teacher Georcelle (Dapat-Sy),” he further revealed.
Matteo added: “Sarah is now more independent and open to trying out her other interests. I’m proud of her because she’s finally doing things she has long wanted to do.”
Marriage is not part of the couple’s immediate plans, the actor said. “Sarah and I still have other goals. They don’t concern money, but they’re more on self-fulfillment.”
“Working together for a film or TV project isn’t part of our goals. We’ve decided to do our own thing for now,” he stressed. That’s why Sarah will not be one of the special guests at Matteo’s 10th anniversary concert, titled “Matteo Made in Cebu,” on Nov. 18 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Mactan. “But she is welcome to watch,” he added.
Matteo said he was aware of netizens who often post negative comments about him being Sarah’s boyfriend. “We deal with them the best way we can. Sarah and I constantly remind each other of why we fell in love, and why we trust each other. We make sure our foundation is strong,” he said.
Matteo said he was proud of the work he has done for the TV series, “Dolce Amore,” which will air its finale today. “I want to be treated as a serious actor. The show gave me the chance to do that—and not always play the boy-next-door type.”
