Judy Ann Santos deglamorized
“Kusina,” one of the entries in the 2016 Cinemalaya film festival this month, serves as the comeback vehicle of Judy Ann Santos, after she gave birth months ago.
She says she can relate to Juanita, the character she plays, because she also loves to cook. And, there was no need for her to lose weight, because Juanita doesn’t care how she looks!
Judy Ann explains, “Juanita doesn’t care that she’s fat because her life revolves around the kitchen. So, I’m prepared to hear comments like, ‘Ay, ang taba ni Juday.’”
Directed by Cenon Palomares and David Corpuz, the whole movie takes place in the kitchen, detailing Juanita’s life, from childhood to maturity.
Every dish she cooks has a story to tell about the people she loves, among them her husband (portrayed by Joem Bascon) and best friend (Luis Alandy).
