SL and IC have a rather stormy past. Perhaps IC merely wanted to avoid yet another frustrating experience? SL was likewise spared from the Sturm und Drang of dealing with IC.
In short, it was a mutually beneficial parting of ways.

Big Star comes up with all sorts of excuses to elude Strict Relative and meet up with Gorgeous Sweetheart.
BS would frequently ask permission from SR for nonexisting appointments in the nail salon. BS would bring along bottles of polish, cuticle remover and Merthiolate to the planned rendezvous with GS.
After canoodling with GS, BS would work on a fake mani-pedi—just in case SR would check.
Who knew BS could have had an alternative career as manicurist?
