What Eric Quizon wants to tell Dolphy

Being in love gives us the license to play stupid.

When we give our heart to someone for safekeeping, we end up losing our mind. Such is the plot of Regal Entertainment’s hilarious film, “That Thing Called Tanga Na” (TTCTN), which opens on Aug. 10.

It’s topbilled by Eric Quizon, Billy Crawford, Kean Cipriano and Angeline Quinto, who portray love fools in varying degrees of craziness. It’s the ultimate “Bading Bonding.”

Here’s my chat with Eric:

If you could send a text message to your dad Dolphy in heaven, what would you say?

Dad, it is difficult to be in your position, but I am trying my best—and I’m not giving up.

What “word of wisdom” from your dad do you follow to this day?

There is nothing wrong about humbling yourself.

Which movie of your dad would you want to do a remake of?

“Tatay Kong Nanay.”

What don’t people know about the Quizons?

Our lives are open books.  The Quizons are the same as any other normal family.

What is more fulfilling, acting or directing?

Each provides a certain fulfillment. There will always be the actor in me who wants to tackle roles that are challenging. [On the other hand], being a director makes my creativity and imagination run free.

How is “TTCTN” different from other gay-themed movies?

It deals with not just one central character but several  friends, who have fallen in and  out of love, and who count on each other for support.

Each of the five characters has a story to tell, and the audience will surely be able to relate to their romantic woes.

What’s the most “tanga”  (stupid) thing that you did for love?

Giving too much of myself and not leaving anything for myself. Now I know that you have to love yourself first. In love, you have to use  your heart and mind.
