Four Filipino movies are part of the 20th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (Bifan), currently ongoing in South Korea until July 31.
Apart from juror Khavn dela Cruz’s “Alipato: The Very Brief Life of an Ember,” Ralston Jover’s “Hamog” is also featured in the World Fantastic Red section, “a showcase of the spectrum of… violent and breathtaking thrillers” for hardcore genre fans.
Meanwhile, Mario Cornejo’s “Apocalypse Child” and Carl Joseph Papa’s “Manang Biring” are included in the World Fantastic Blue section, which focuses on comedy, musical and romance flicks.
The fest’s website points out that those who have “survived” the World Fantastic Red section will “enjoy” the World Fantastic Blue program, which is more “relaxed” and highlights “fun and moving stories.”
Bifan aims to present “a wide range of alternative genre films—science fiction, fantasy, horror and other cutting-edge movies.” Bayani San Diego Jr.
