If you don’t know anything about HBO’s critically acclaimed series Game of Thrones, it’s never too late to get acclimated.
To help newcomers catch up on the popular fantasy show, as well as serve as a refresher for solid fans, the studio enlisted the help of Samuel L. Jackson to provide an overview of the first five seasons of the series.
In a typical expletive-laden tirade that only the 67-year-old actor could pull off, Jackson hilariously narrated the series’ many twists and turns.
“Ok newbie we’ve only got a few minutes and a lot to cover so listen up,” Jackson said at the beginning. “The first thing you need to know about this place is…No, not dragons [expletive] those dragons. Focus!”
Over the course of eight minutes, he broke down all the show’s warring factions, from the Starks to the Lannisters to the “girl” who could summon dragons.
The box office actor also shared an amusing take on the show’s creator, George R.R. Martin’s, penchant of killing most of the fans’ favorite characters.
“Nice family, right?” Jackson said, eferring to the Starks. “Don’t get attached. I’m just saying.”
He also poked fun at the House of Stark’s motto “Winter is coming”—which was often uttered by characters of the show.
“These [expletive] are cold, which is why everybody should be worried about this long-[expletive] winter coming, but instead, they’re too busy fighting.”
In true Samuel L. Jackson fashion, the actor ended his amusing storytelling where he began—by expressing his disdain for everyone’s apparent obsession with dragons.
“After all that, you’re still stuck on these dragons? You wanna see a dragon, [expletive]? Here you go, here you [expletive] go!,” he said.
The YouTube clip, meanwhile, was created to promote the fantasy hit on iTunes, as it gears up for its 7th season.
“The video dispels misconceptions, highlights key characters and details main story lines so TV fans can finally see what all the fuss is about,” an HBO spokesman said in a TIME report. Khristian Ibarrola
