REYES. Heartfelt portrayal.
Mabel Sunga Acosta, broadcast journalist from Davao, airs this appeal to media colleagues: “Please stop saying ‘krisis’ or ‘kaguluhan sa Mindanao’ in your news reports. Mindanao is a big island. While it’s true that tragedy really happened in Basilan, it’s only a small part of a bigger land area. It’s a disservice to all who live in Mindanao in peace. People who aren’t from here tend to think there’s chaos all over the island.
“If a bombing incident happens in Makati or Manila, you wouldn’t call it a ‘Luzon crisis,’ would you? Please be more sensitive, because media affects viewers’ consciousness. Choose your words well in your news accounts.”

Andy Manlangit, retired government employee: “The result of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Season Three leaves much to be desired. I have nothing against the winners. But, let’s face it—they didn’t really excel in their performance during the finals, compared to El Gamma Penumbra, Synergy or the Loverkada Kids. Unfortunately, none of the latter landed in the top three.

Liberty Casion, student: “It was wonderful to see memorable confrontation scenes recently in opposing dramas, ABS-CBN’s ‘100 Days to Heaven’ and GMA 7’s ‘Iglot.’
In “100 Days,’ I refer to the scene in which Anna (Coney Reyes) finally meets her missing mother, Amelita (Susan Roces). And, ‘Iglot’ had Celso (Eddie Garcia) in the confessional, revealing his murderous deeds to Fr. Ruben (Romnick Sarmenta) who, unknown to him, is the son of the couple he killed. —Thanks to these actors for their heartfelt portrayals!”
