‘Alive Forever’

United Nations International Yoga Day was celebrated recently. In time for this event, yoga master Wai Lana released a beautiful video with this message:

“The true self never dies. This ancient wisdom has been passed down by yoga masters since time immemorial. It’s a wonderful antidote to stress and the anxiety of modern living, which puts so much emphasis on youth and physical appearance. The foundation of this wisdom is that we are not the body, so even if the body ages and eventually dies, your true self is not affected.

“I wrote the song, ‘Alive Forever,’ to remind my friends around the world of the beautiful prayer, ‘Aham brahmasmi’—I am not the body, I am not the mind, I am the eternal spirit soul—alive forever”:

“Looking in the mirror every day, I frown, I stress and I worry/ Oh, time you have no mercy—you wilt my body, you sadden my heart/ Nothing can make me young again—more wrinkles lining my face, hair turning gray/ But the soul remains unchanged, Aham Brahmasmi/

FEATURED STORIES

“Don’t be afraid of getting old; the true self is ever youthful and everlasting/ Knowing I am not the body, I am at ease/ Praise for my looks I do not need/ Living my life with true meaning, knowing that I’m spirit soul, I glide through life with inner peace/ In time, my body will cease to be/ Mother Earth herself will also age/ This is no cause for worry/ Eternal, we hold pure love in our hearts/ So happy to know life has no end/ Calm is my mind and at peace/ My Lord’s love shines everywhere/ Alive forever—I, the soul, will be/ Aham brahmasmi.”
