Kim Rodriguez has been essaying lead roles since starring in TV dramas like “Kakambal ni Eliana,” “Strawberry Lane” and “Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw.” But more than playing the twin sister of a snake or a lovable tomboy, Kim finds her latest thespic challenge more daunting.
In GMA 7’s “Hanggang Makita Kang Muli,” she plays Claire, the soap’s jealous maldita who wants to steal Derrick Monasterio from Bea Binene.
Asked how she handled the drastic shift—from the rigid moral standards of her goody-two-shoe-characters to the scheming machinations of Claire—the 21-year-old actress told the Inquirer: “During the two-day workshop before taping began, Direk Laurice (Guillen) helped me tap into my dark side. ‘Just love your character—kampihan mo lang s’ya (side with her),’ I was coached. I didn’t realize how much fun it is to play someone mean and get people to dislike you. You play around with your character to make her convincing.” Rito P. Asilo
