Pop culture’s favorite malignant entity, Sadako, channeled her inner “Babe Ruth” last week as she threw the ceremonial first pitch at the Nippon-Ham Fighters baseball game in Japan.
To promote the upcoming “The Ring” and “The Grudge” horror movie mash-up called “Sadako vs. Kayako,” characters from both titles—including Kayako and Toshio from ‘The Grudge’—made a surprise appearance, much to the delight of the sold-out crowd.
The stringy haired Sadako, who gained spooky notoriety for crawling out of deep wells and television sets, made her way to homeplate by scaring off a bunch of cheerleaders.
As it turns out, the famed malevolent character packs a mean curveball, which even drew some ooh’s and ahh’s from professional baseball players in attendance.
The spectral pair even gyrated for the crowd, while resident creepy kid Toshio characteristically just sat on the field.
Kayako, however, claimed victory as she managed to hit the pitch while Toshio ran up to third base.
The defeated Sadako was escorted out by the game’s mascot, while Kayako and Toshio capped off their win by menacingly scowling at the crowd.
The highly anticipated horror film crossover will debut before Japanese audiences starting June 18.
