Disney is about to produce a sequel to its supercalifragilisticexpialidocious film “Mary Poppins”, and British actress Emily Blunt has been chosen to succeed Julie Andrews.
Blunt, 33, will play the magical umbrella-brandishing nanny in “Mary Poppins Returns”, a riveting sequel to the 1964 Disney classic.
According to reports by CNN Money and Daily Mail, Walt Disney Studios revealed on Tuesday that “Mary Poppins Returns” will storm movie theaters on Christmas 2018. Also, Lin-Manuel Miranda, the 36-year-old star of Broadway musical “Hamilton,” will portray the character Jack, a street lamplighter.
The sequel’s director is Rob Marshall, 55, who previously directed eye-popping musicals such as “Chicago” and “Into the Woods”, while David Magee, writer of the 2004 drama film “Finding Neverland,” is the film’s scriptwriter. The film popularized two soundtracks, “A Spoonful of Sugar” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”
The refreshing sequel will unfold Jane and Michael Banks, all grown-ups, as they were visited by Poppins in their humble home in London during the 1930s Great Depression era.

Poppins enchantingly enters the Banks family to “rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives,” the studio said in a statement.
