WHAT a blast I had in Davao at the festive launch of SmartBro Pocket Wi-Fi P888 with fab “Bro-kadas,” Bb. Pilipinas Universe MJ Lastimosa and TV host/athlete Gretchen Ho. The two beauties went around “Duterte country,” traveling in a colorful motorcade.
To paraphrase President-elect Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte’s slogan, change is indeed coming, even in connectivity.
Here’s my chat with Gretchen:
What’s the craziest thing you and Robi Domingo (her boyfriend) have done?
When we climbed Mt. Pulag together, we didn’t know what to expect. It was tiring, we had no sleep, but when we reached the peak, it was surreal.
Is Robi husband material?
I’d like to think so. He’s a gentleman. He values family, and he works very hard. Mom loves him because he’s sweet and knows how to charm everyone around him.
He’s also goal-oriented—he likes to plan everything out and determine the concrete steps on how to get there. What I love most about being with Robi, though, is that we’re just like kids when we’re together.
How do you handle bashers?
I have this belief in life that when you don’t get criticized or bashed, it means you’re being too safe with your life. So, I take the bashing in stride. I ignore it when it sounds unreasonable, and I reply only when there’s a need to clarify things. I always reply with respect, though.
What’s your hashtag for yourself these days?
#VacationPlease
What’s your unsolicited advice to President-elect Duterte about sports on behalf of other athletes?
It’s about time that we do something to revamp our sports associations and programs. I know a lot has been promised to Filipino athletes but, in reality, only little has been done.
Politics in sports is like politics in government— sometimes, worse. If you can let athletes head these associations, it would do Philippine sports a lot of good.
My chat with MJ:
What will make you fall for a guy?
I appreciate men who are fun with a sense of responsibility.
Would you ever make the first move if you like a guy?
It wouldn’t hurt to show some interest, but not to the extent of desperately running after a man.
What’s your unsolicited advice to Bb. Pilipinas Maxine Medina?
Not to let the pressure get the better of her. Work hard for the crown, but also enjoy her reign.
Would you rather be a career woman or a housewife?
Career woman all the way.
What do you remember most about the time you worked for Mayor Duterte?
Leadership and discipline. To back up my words with action.
Caravan
According to Smart Consumer Broadband marketing head Gary Dujali, the star-studded nationwide tour kicked off in Cagayan de Oro, then came in full force in Davao, while being held simultaneously in Pampanga and other parts of Metro Manila—with balladeer Michael Pangilinan and beauty queen Bea Rose Santiago.
On June 4, the caravan will invade Cebu, then move on to other major cities.
