Charo Santos, ABS-CBN chief content officer and president of the ABS-CBN University, marks her big screen comeback this year in a Lav Diaz film entitled, “Ang Babaeng Humayo.”

Lav, who recently won the Silver Bear Alfred Bauer prize for “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis” at the Berlinale, told the Inquirer that the film recently wrapped up shooting in Mindoro, Charo’s home province.

The shoot went well, Lav recalled. Charo connected with the story immediately.

Charo Santos and sister Malou Santos, through ABS-CBN’s film arm Star Cinema, acted as coproducers and distributor of “Hele.”

Cinema One, ABS-CBN’s movie channel on cable, is the producer of Charo and Lav’s latest film collaboration, which also stars John Lloyd Cruz, Nonie Buencamino and Shamaine Buencamino.

Charo last appeared in Jerry Lopez Sineneng’s “Esperanza the Movie” in 1999.

She won best actress at the Asian Film Festival for her debut movie, Mike de Leon’s “Itim,” released in 1976.

Charo hopes to field her comeback movie in this December’s Metro Manila Film Festival./rga
