True to her “beauty queen” nature, actress Maria Isabel Lopez inspired a slew of outrageous, fan-generated memes that bestowed on her the title, “Kabogera ng Cannes.”
Last Wednesday, at the premiere of Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s “Ma’ Rosa,” an entry in the Main Competition of the French fest, Lopez wore a stunning green gown by Albert Andrada.
Lopez clearly made heads turn, shining like an emerald on the red carpet.
One meme jokingly declared: “Tabi kayo diyan, mamamalengke ako! (Move aside, I am going to the wet market!)”
Lopez, via Facebook messenger, told the Inquirer: “I was full of dopamine. It felt good walking to the Palais and hearing the host mention that I was also in ‘Kinatay’ (for which Mendoza won Cannes best director in 2009). It’s rare for an actress to walk on this red carpet.
