IT HAS been a year since Bro. Jun Banaag, OP, first aired the prayer blessing of Padre Pio on dzMM’s “Dr. Love” counseling program. It featured Padre Pio celebrating Mass.
Thereafter, text messages poured in, with listeners requesting for daily replays of the “miraculous” prayer—a move approved by program executive TJ Correa. For many listeners, the prayer has become a source of comfort and remedy for whatever is ailing them.
Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina was born on May 23, l887, and was ordained in 1910. On May 16, 1917, he received the five wounds (stigmata) of Jesus which bled for 50 years. The Lord’s wounds would cause him his own long Calvary!
Padre Pio died on Sept. 23, 1968, and was canonized on June 18, 2002.
