Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, passes away

The mother of deceased hip-Hop legend Tupac, Afeni Shakur Davis, passed away on Monday night (Tuesday, Manila time) inside her home in Sausalito, California, due to a suspected heart attack. She was 69.

Citing reports from U.S-based media, TMZ, The Marin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 9-1-1 call around 9:43 p.m. for an emergency cardiac arrest call.

Davis, who remained unresponsive, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 10:28 p.m.

“There was nothing suspicious about her death and there’s no evidence of foul play,” claimed the officer on the scene, Lt. Doug Pittman.

The coroner assigned to her case, however, has yet to confirm the exact cause of her death.

She was last seen publicly during filming of Tupac’s biopic “All Eyez on Me”, based from the title of one of his tracks.

Meanwhile, Davis will always be remembered by fans for his son’s 1996 hit ‘Dear Mama,’ where the hip-hop icon detailed his admiration for his beloved mother.

The ’Changes’ rapper was fatally shot on September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His killer was never caught.

Following his son’s death, Davis founded the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation which offers quality music training for young and aspiring musicians. Khristian Ibarrola
