It seems that Captain America’s heart will always belong to Peggy Carter, despite speculations that he has fallen for his ‘Team Cap’ stablemate, Scarlet Witch.
The man behind shield-wielding superhero, Chris Evans, has laughed off earlier rumors that he has been secretly dating his ‘Avengers’ co-star’ Elizabeth Olsen in recent months.
During a guesting appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, the pair squashed allegations of a romantic relationship, albeit in a playful manner.
“Apparently we’re dating,” the 34-year-old Evans jokingly told the show’s host, Ellen DeGeneres, when asked about their alleged secret affair.
Olsen chimed in as well, “Well we’ve been dating for like secretly for the last three years. We’re actually engaged!” the 27-year-old actress said with a wide grin on her face.
Evans added that he ended up sending a text message to Olsen when rumors first emerged that they were more than just co-stars.
“I remember that,” Evans laughed. “I remember sending you a text saying ‘Hey guess what? Apparently we’re dating.”
“Yeah and I was like ‘Oh my god that’s really exciting for us,” said a giggling Olsen. “We were about to move in with each other, but we’re still trying to figure out if we’re dating or not, because we don’t talk instead”.
Despite the duo’s obvious efforts to dismiss the allegations, DeGeneres kept keen on the apparent chemistry they have—both on and off screen.
“I don’t know. I’m just saying,” the jolly host said with a smile. “Think about it, don’t just poo, poo it. I mean you’re both single. And if they’re saying it, maybe somebody sees something you don’t.”
Multiple reports have surfaced online about the alleged ‘lovebirds’ cozying up while filming the newly released Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster, “Captain America: Civil War”.
“Chris and Lizzie are definitely involved in some kind of ultra-secret romance that’s being kept under wraps while they shoot,” an unnamed source told the National Enquirer.
Olsen, meanwhile, reprises her role as Scarlet Witch/ Wanda Maximoff in the third instalment of the Captain America franchise, while Evans would once again don the stars and stripes as the heroic-titular character. Khristian Ibarrola
