Filipino film ‘Manang Biring’ in French animation fest

A Filipino film has made it to the lineup of an animation festival in France. Carl Joseph Papa’s “Manang Biring” will be screened in the Out of Competition section of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, to be held in Annecy, France, from June 13 to 18.

With the use of rotoscoping, “Manang Biring” tells the story of a terminally ill woman who yearns to spend Christmas with her estranged daughter. It won the top prize in last year’s Cinema One Originals film fest. Annecy is billed as the “world’s top reference for animation films.” Bayani San Diego Jr.
