Pia Wurtzbach not Sam Milby’s type

Actor Sam Milby has known Pia Wurtzbach for eight years now. Yet they never dated and have just remained friends.

If he wanted to, Sam said, he could have pursued Pia, but he would do so only because he truly cared for her and not because she is the reigning Miss Universe.

The German-Filipino beauty recently admitted to having a crush on Sam, and even said she hoped to be able to work with him someday.

“I’ve known Pia for eight years. She’s a genuine and sincere person. When I do court her, what I feel has to be truthful and sincere, and not only because she’s a beauty title-holder. I have a guilty conscience, too,” the 31-year-old actor explained. “I feel flattered that she was very vocal during her interview with Tito Boy (Abunda).”

Sam was referring to the April 14 episode of the talk show, “Tonight With Boy Abunda,” where the host asked Pia to choose from among actors, Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz and Coco Martin.

The 26-year-old answered by saying, “You didn’t include Sam,” and eventually chose the latter.

Pia added she would pick a doctor over an actor any time, because the latter would “only try to flatter and fool me.”

Mike Varshavski, who is People Magazine’s Sexiest Doctor Alive, is reportedly dating Pia. Pia confirmed this on the show, but added that being Miss Universe is still her top priority.

Sam, meanwhile, said the girl closest to him at the moment is “Doble Kara” costar Julia Montes. “She’s amazing. She is one of the best actresses I know. I have so much respect for Julia. What people don’t know is that she has a very beautiful singing voice, but she doesn’t believe me when I tell her that. She likes to sing on the set,” said Sam during the press conference announcing Book Two of the afternoon drama series on ABS-CBN.

Mature

“Julia is a professional. She arrives on the set on time, even though we know how draining it is for her to play two characters in the show,” he added. “It’s taxing on the emotion, especially if the twins are quarrelling. Julia is mature beyond her age.”

If time permits, Sam said he would like to continue trying his luck in Hollywood next year. “That’s still in my plans. I have a talent management there that still sends me e-mails to ask for videos for auditions.”
