Show biz denizens get caught in the electoral crossfire

Social media has turned into a poor copy of a Paul Thomas Anderson film. No, it’s not “There Will Be Blood”; it’s more like “There Will Be Mud.”

Several celebrities got caught in the feverish war of words online. Yup, mud-slinging has gone high-tech these days.

Showbiz Insider insinuated that Popular Figure is romantically involved with Shady Colleague. Problem is, SC is already committed to another person.

Another Grizzled Celeb recklessly spread a rumor that Controversial Personality had a messy falling out with Feisty Partner over money matters.

Mud was slung in cyberspace.

Dial-a-friend

It was panic time for powerful folks, too.

Major Star was all set to endorse Leading Candidate.

Unfortunately, Influential Figure purportedly called up MS with an urgent request. IF asked MS to lie low for a while.

MS’ involvement in the political arena would prove disastrous for LC’s Staunch Rival, IF explained.

IF is backing up SR, that’s why.

Who’s afraid of MS?

Indecent proposal

Campaign season is also time to make hay for some crooked personalities.

Vociferous Celeb is not easily scandalized. Until VC got an offer from certain Unscrupulous Characters who shall remain nameless.

UC dangled hundreds of thousands of pesos. In return, VC was expected to post updates on UC’s bet on various social media accounts.

It was easy money, but VC had second thoughts. VC mercifully declined the proposal.

Deal breaker

Pretty Starlet thought she had an endorsement deal in the bag.

PS was raring to join Front-runner Candidate on the campaign trail. PS’ Formidable Relative was rumored to be FC’s main supporter, as well.

As luck would have it, FC had to back out. FC was unable to afford FR’s asking price.

PS also had a nasty falling-out with FC’s team. Worse, even FC’s Charming Kin got dragged into the melee.

Now, PS is sour-graping—telling people that she had no plans of campaigning for anyone.

Not even FC.

Demanding much?

From the Inquirer tabloid Bandera:

Talent coordinators refuse to hire Seasoned Performer for out-of-town shows this campaign season. Apparently, SP can be quite demanding.

As expected, prospective clients would often ask for a discount because SP is no longer as popular as before.

Still, slightly delusional SP insists on the old rate.

As a result, job offers now elude SP.

Top of the tabloids

This week’s top show biz news in the Inquirer tabloid Bandera (and why we are moved, if we are moved):

Bea Alonzo at Gerald Anderson posibleng magkainlaban uli. (Hmmm…Part Two of the affair that went pfft?)

Binatikos si Oyo Sotto ng ilang netizens matapos itong mag-post sa kanyang Instagram account tungkol sa politika. (It’s best to steer clear of politics, really.)

Karen Davila pinagbantaan ng mga fans ng presidentiable. (See above.)

James Reid botong boto kay Nadine Lustre bilang bagong Darna. (He can play Ding?)

Maine Mendoza nahipuan ng manyak sa sugod-bahay. (AlDub Nation will hunt that pervert down.)

Marian Rivera: “Kahit mahirap magbuntis, gusto ko pa rin magkaroon ng maraming anak!” (The more, the merrier.)

Tuloy na ang gagawing “bayanihan” ng mga local celebrities para matulungan sina Julio Diaz at Richard Merk. (Bravo!)
