WATCH: The Joker spreads mischief in new ‘Suicide Squad’ trailer
A new trailer for the highly-anticipated DC film “Suicide Squad” has debuted during the MTV Movie Awards on Monday (Philippine time) and has featured more scenes showing The Joker (played by Jared Leto) joining in the fun.
The trailer was presented by MTV Generation Award recipient Will Smith, with fellow “Suicide Squad” stars Leto, Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne during the event.
The clip begins with a meeting of high-ranking security officials mulling the possibility of an abduction of the US president by Superman.
“What if Superman had decided to fly down, rip off the roof of the White House, and grab the President right out of the Oval Office?” the official said.
The answer to the question is, of course, the titular Suicide Squad composed of The Joker (Jared Leto), Enchantress (Delevingne), Harley Quinn (Robbie), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Deadshot (Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Slipknot (Adam Beach), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), and Katana (Karen Fukuhara).
The footage also featured scenes of the squad during training where Harley Quinn said: “I’m known to be quite vexing. I’m just warning you.”
A faint outline of the Batsuit can also be seen.
The movie, directed by David Ayer, will premiere in theaters on August 5. AJH
