Guy, Osang have mutual admiration thing going

/ 06:30 PM November 01, 2011

Nora Aunor

NORA Aunor and Rosanna Roces should put up a mutual admiration club. They’ve gotten so close to each other while doing TV5’s “Sa Ngalan ng Ina” to the point that they rib each other with the term of endearment “asawa ko.”

But of course it’s all in jest, for want of a better word to express how special they are to each other. “’Di ako naniniwala sa mga chismis kaya deadma ako sa mga kwento tungkol kay Guy,” says Osang. “Napatunayan ko kung bakit maraming nagmamahal sa kanya nung makilala ko siya nang lubusan ngayon na magkatrabaho kami. Click kami agad kasi pareho kaming Gemini.”

Nora echoes the same sentiments. “Sa show biz mabibilang mo ang tunay na kaibigan. Sa tagal ko sa industriya alam ko na kung pinaplastik lang ako. Isa si Osang sa totoong kaibigan na iingatan ko habang buhay.”

FEATURED STORIES

They are planning to do an indie film together. And their obra maestra dramaserye (which is on its finale week) might have a book two (watch out for the possible cliffhanger).

Misunderstood

Ate Guy and Osang are two women of substance who are often misunderstood. Seeing them chat and giggle off-cam like high school chums made me realize that they manage to relish simple joys amid the complicated biz that brought them together.

I teased La Aunor about her fab cover pictorial for the November issue of Preview mag. She shot back, “Bakit dun maganda ako (laughs)?” I retorted, “Mata mo pa lang, talo na silang lahat.” She quipped, “’Di naman pwedeng close-up lang ng mata parati ang panlaban ko (laughs).”

All eyes are definitely on  the Superstar!

Two queens

To appease the Noranians and in the spirit of fairness, I also asked Ate Guy how she feels about Tita Nena’s (Amalia Fuentes) insinuation that she is not consistent with her stories. In a previous column, I wrote that Tita Nena didn’t exactly like Guy’s statement in Yes Magazine that the Superstar is no longer a fan of hers, because of an incident that happened between them many years ago. Said Nora, “Totoo naman na ’di niya ako fan. Artista man ako, pero fan din ako minsan.”

Tita Nena and Ate Guy are both queens of Philippine cinema but from different generations. I know that in time and with the right mediator, they will patch things up. After all, queens are real ladies who can’t stay mad at each other.
