Ebe Dancel launches second solo album Bawat Daan

Hitting the number one spot on Odyssey Music & Video’s nationwide sales report last January 25-31 was Ebe Dancel’s new album Bawat Daan, which was officially launched at Eastwood Central Plaza last January 31 with musical guests KZ Tandingan, Yeng Constantino and Gloc-9.

The album art, which features Ebe on a stroll through UP Los Baños’ Freedom Park, conjures up a picture of nostalgia, and yet, it is also a movement towards a new chapter for his artistry. Coincidentally, the musician tells the crowd that this album launch is somewhat a send-off party for him, as he moves back to his hometown of Los Baños, Laguna.

Onstage is his good friend Gloc-9, whom Ebe refers to as “one of the best local musicians” of our time. They shared the story on how they created the socially relevant Sirena before performing the hit to the crowd’s delight.

He then performs Hanggang Wala Nang Bukas, the theme song to Jerrold Tarog’s historical film Heneral Luna. Next was the sonically rich Kasayaw, where he compares a relationship to the intricacies of footwork in dancing.

A touching moment as he takes the time to call his niece and nephew to the stage. “Sila ang buhay ko ‘pag baon na baon na ako sa problema.”

Breathing new life into old favorites is X-Factor Philippines winner KZ Tandingan, who joins the singer for Huwag Ka Nang Umiyak and Yeng Constantino for Makita Kang Muli and Prom, which seamlessly interpolates lyrics from Kasayaw.

The song from which the album gets its name, Bawat Daan, is an ode to a lover, the only constant in a world of doubts. It was originally composed for the stage musical Sa Wakas, which featured the music of Sugarfree. Recently, it was also included in MMFF Best Picture winner Walang Forever.

Ebe will be officially launching the album in Los Baños today, March 10 at Entablado Café. ADVT.
