New Game of Thrones trailer sends fans into uncharted territory

Book readers and show lovers alike are on even footing when it comes to this popular and highly lethal series.

The trailer for the sixth season of the hit HBO TV series “Game of Thrones” published Tuesday is taking fans of the fantasy series further than the books that the show is based on.

In less than two minutes, the trailer offered just enough material to fuel speculation among fans on the fate of the characters until its premiere on April 24, 2016.

Notable moments from the trailer included the return of Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) to King’s Landing, a false prophecy by Melisandre (Carice van Houten) and an apologetic Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunninham) drawing Longclaw, the fallen Jon Snow (Kit Harrington)’s Valyrian steel sword, from its sheath.

Also shown: a vengeful Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), a newly-blinded Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), a reinvigorated Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), the mysterious Kingsguard Robert Strong, an imprisoned Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) and an upright Bran standing alongside the Night’s King.

The upcoming season is based upon parts of the soon-to-be-released book by George R.R. Martin, “The Winds of Winter.”
