Spinoff on story of Jesus’ resurrection to open in cinemas

RISEN in SM cinemas March 2- OFFICIAL TRAILER

Movie enthusiasts, especially those who are devout Christians, have something special to see this coming Holy Week.

“Risen,” a movie spinoff on the Biblical story of the resurrection of Jesus, will premiere on March 2 in SM Cinemas.

As seen through the eyes of an unbelieving Roman tribune, the movie tells the story of Clavius and his search for Yeshua of Nazareth following the weeks of his crucifixion and reported rising from the dead.

Clavius (Joseph Fiennes) and his aide Lucius (Tom Felton) are commanded by the prefect Pontius Pilate to make sure that Yeshua’s followers don’t salvage his remains from a cave tomb.

After the body goes missing, Clavius, together with his men, begins his search mission.

As a directive from the prefect, the body must be located in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.

Clavius eventually meets Yeshua’s disciples and travels with them as he realizes who the Messiah truly is and why the “King of the Jews” is deemed a political threat to the Roman emperor.

Directed by Kevin Reynolds (“The Count of Monte Cristo”) from a screenplay by him and Paul Aiello, “Risen” stars Fiennes (“Hercules”), Felton (the “Harry Potter” films), Peter Firth (“Pearl Harbor”) and Cliff Curtis (“10,000 B.C.”).

Opening soon across the Philippines, “Risen” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. AM
