Nora Aunor on Pacquiao’s slur: Gambling, womanizing worse than being gay

Nora Aunor to Pacquiao: Don't call gays 'animals'

Superstar Nora Aunor took a dig against senatorial hopeful and Sarangani representative Manny Pacquiao following his controversial statements against members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community which sparked an online firestorm.

Attending the NCAA Ani ng Dangal awards press conference, Aunor said that being a gambler and womanizer is worse than being gay.

She also called out the lawmaker for relegating the members of the LGBT community as “worse than animals.”

“Ang masama doon ay sugarol ka, babaero ka. Mas masama ‘yun. Saka huwag niyang sasabihing hayop (ang mga miyembro ng LGBT) kasi mga tao yun eh,” Aunor told reporters.

The seasoned actress believed that the boxer should have kept his derogatory opinion to himself.

“Hindi naman tama (yung sinabi ni Pacquiao) kasi sa akin naman, nasa gobryeno siya, ‘di ba? Kung ano ang personal na opinyon niya dapat itago na lang niya sa sarili niya,” Aunor said.

Pacquiao was once twitted for being a gambler and being involved to various women while married to his wife Jinkee.

In earlier reports, the “fighting congressman” said that he became a “changed man” when he turned into an evangelical Christian.

Aunor said that LGBT members should be treated with respect and should be supported.

“Tao pa rin ‘yan, suportahan pa rin natin ang mga kapwa natin kasi wala naman silang ginagawang masama eh,” she said.

The lawmaker has been dropped by Nike on Wednesday as one of its endorsers due to his anti-gay comments. AJH
