Pia Wurtzbach thanks #AlDub fans for support

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach finally thanked fans of the popular “AlDub” love team for their support for her.

“I love #AlDub. Salamat sa tulong n’yo sa akin. I hope to guest on Eat Bulaga when I get back to Manila. Mahal ko kayo,” Wurtzbach said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Wurtzbach, then hoping to win the country’s third Miss Universe crown after a four-decade drought, asked for the Filipinos’ support in the pageant’s global fan voting in December. She singled out fans of the pairing of Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza, whose online presence dominates Twitter’s trending topics regularly, to vote for her.

“Hello #AldubNation pwede ko po bang mahingi ang tulong n’yo para sa laban ko sa Miss Universe,” Wurtzbach said in an Instagram post.

“May online voting po sa mismong final night. ‘Yung votes n’yo po papasok habang ako po ang naglalakad sa stage. Real time po ‘yung votes,” she said.

The ploy obviously worked as Wurtzbach topped the global fan vote in each stage of the competition on her way to winning the Miss Universe title in a coronation marred by controversy.

Wurtzbach recently visited the Philippines for a grand homecoming. She graced various ABS-CBN shows during her week-long stay. She also attended the wedding of best friend Pauleen Luna with “Eat Bulaga” pioneer Vic Sotto. IDL
