IT’S THE DAY after Valentine’s. Do you know where your heart is? Filipinos are such romantic fools, so it’s Valentine mode till the end of this “love month.”

’Tis the season to be mushy. Therefore, I asked some celebs about the best love advice they’ve ever heard. Whether they heeded it or not is an entirely different story.

Beneath the glitz and glamour, stars are not spared from Cupid’s tricks. Their love stories and heartbreaks make show biz all the more colorful. It isn’t easy for them to fall in and out of love because everybody is watching.

Hope you all had a Happy Hearts’ (and “no more hurts”) Day!

Martin Nievera: Love is not love unless you both know how to forgive. If it doesn’t hurt, it’s not love. It’s not the wedding, it’s the marriage. When trust is lost, not even love can keep you together.

ROCCO Nacino

Vina Morales: We must love ourselves first before loving someone else. We can’t expect someone to love us if we don’t love and respect ourselves.

Derek Ramsay: Be with someone because you love them unconditionally and not because you feel sorry for them.

Jasmine Curtis-Smith: If you can’t be the best of yourself, you can’t give yourself to someone else just yet.

Bo Cerrudo: Love wholeheartedly like there’s no tomorrow.

Edu Manzano:  When we opened the Adrian Manzano Cancer Wing of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, I met an amazing couple who were volunteers. They radiated such warmth and happiness, and were clearly very much in love. When I pointed this out, the woman told me, “We talk like best friends, we play like children, we plan like husband and wife, and we protect each other like parents.”

Benjie Paras: If you really love that person, fight for him or her.

Rocco Nacino:  Don’t rush love. Enjoy every moment—and let everything fall into place! Treat her like a queen.

No phones

In this fast-paced world, we can’t help but be slaves to technology. Our bond with our mobile phones gets in the way of bonding with our loved ones. That is why Discovery Suites thought of a Valentine activity that centers on heartwarming conversations and quality time.

Some celebrities like Dingdong Avanzado, Jessa Zaragoza and their daughter Jayda, KC Montero, Troy Montero and Aubrey Miles were invited to join the “No Phones During Dinner” challenge at the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, 22 Prime.

Jessa raved about the experience: “More than our appreciation of the sumptuous dishes, we are grateful for the opportunity to have uninterrupted time as a family… This simple activity reminded us of what is truly important.” And so did KC: “It was such a cool idea. We had to actually talk. Food was excellent.”
