Eugene Domingo’s natural flair for comedy

Since V-Day is just a few heartbeats away, I cornered some celebs and asked them: If Cupid were real, what would you ask the sometimes-dangerous love angel?

Alden Richards: Will AlDub be forever?

Cesar Montano: Why are you wearing diapers?

Rhian Ramos: Do you have someone for everyone?

Yael Yuzon: Aren’t you for real?

Uge’s funny Valentine

It is going to be a funny Valentine as GMA 7 launches the first comedy anthology on Philippine television, “Dear Uge,” on Feb. 14 after “Sunday PinaSaya.”

Comedienne Eugene Domingo portrays Urbana Genoveva Esperanza, a variety store owner who hosts a web show, “Dear Uge.”

Her charming sidekick is played by PETA actress Divine Grace Aucina.

With Uge’s natural flair for comedy, it is guaranteed to be a non-stop laugh trip.

Here’s our chat with Eugene Domingo:

What’s the best love advice you’ve heard?

Enjoy the feeling, especially if it makes you happy—and do not expect, because usually women expect. Just remember, for men, it is what it is.

If cupid were real, what would you ask him?

I’d ask where he buys his arrows. Why doesn’t he run out?

Which one would you pick—love or career?

That’s a difficult question because, first of all, I love my career. Career is love! But if you mean that I have to choose because I’m going to expire if I don’t, I’d go for love. Love is the only thing you need.

What prompted you to come up with the show?

I’m thankful to GMA 7 for always giving me original TV concepts and entrusting me to be part of a pioneering show. So, the moment they offered “Dear Uge,” where I can give advice and at the same time participate in the dramatization, I liked it instantly.

EUGENE Domingo

I can connect with the viewers by sharing my opinions, and I can also use my acting skills. It would never be boring for me and the audience.

What are your thoughts on the Metro Manila Film Festival?

It’s very entertaining… I didn’t have an entry last year, so I have nothing to say except that if you want to join a festival, they have rules, and whatever their decision is, that’s their decision! And whatever your reaction is, come December you would [probably] still join.

What are your do’s and don’ts on the set?

My team and I agreed that whatever happens on- and off-cam, we will always be kind to each other—so our pleasant attitudes would reflect on TV.

Is it harder to make the audience laugh than cry?

You cannot compare because what the audience is looking for is entertainment—sometimes, they’re entertained by watching drama, sometimes, by watching comedy. But the most important thing for me is that they get entertained, so they won’t switch channels.

If your life story were made into a stage play, what would the title be?

A musical, “My Dear Lady.”

What are your thoughts on marriage? Is it in your agenda?

No. But my agenda right now is to be inspired because you may be married but not [necessarily] inspired. I don’t like that. I want to be inspired, then get married!
