Two-time Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Best Actress awardee Jennylyn Mercado has torn down the wall between the country’s two network giants once again as she is set to star in an upcoming film with John Lloyd Cruz under Star Cinema.
Mercado, who is a GMA Network artist, posted a photo of her with Cruz on Monday with the caption “Surprise! #Movie #StarCinema.” Star Cinema is ABS-CBN’s film and television production company.
According to a report from Pep.ph, the movie will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
Details of the movie’s plot are still being kept under wraps but PEP editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon said that Mercado’s character will “appear ugly at first and will become prettier as the movie progresses.”
Mercado’s movie with Cruz marks the third time that she will work with a Kapamilya actor.
The 28-year-old Kapuso actress has done it before when she co-starred in “The Prenup” with Sam Milby, as well as in the 41st MMFF entry “Walang Forever” with Jericho Rosales where she won Best Actress, bagging her second Best Actress award in a row. AJH/JE
