Love Marie Ongpauco-Escudero, aka Heart Evangelista, continues to explore her passion for the visual arts. She presents her new collection of oil paintings in an exhibition, “Oceans Apart,” at the Artist Space of Ayala Museum until Feb. 10.

Her first exhibit was “sold-out,” which is quite phenomenal for a debut. It was followed by two more successful solo exhibits. The last one in Singapore gained praises from critics.

The experience of being an artist gives her a different kind of high. In her exhibit, she delves into childhood memories of having gone fishing with her father.

As Heart takes her audience on an aesthetic journey, it gets quite hard to decide which is prettier—the actress, or her works of “Heart”?

Wedding ‘truce’

The network war was set aside at the fab wedding reception of TV5’s entertainment reporter MJ Marfori and GMA 7’s news correspondent Oscar Oida. It was fun to see news anchors and broadcast journalists from the Kapuso, Kapamilya and Kapatid networks let their hair down, for a change.

The reception held at the Palacio de Maynila was autumn-themed, because Oscar proposed to MJ during autumn in New York. But from now on, the cool couple will go through all of life and love’s many seasons together.

Congrats, MJ and Oscar! May your marriage be as meaty and juicy as the news you deliver.

Here’s our Q&A with MJ and Oscar:

What were your wedding gifts to each other?

M: Balmain eyeglasses, since I know he wanted a certain style.

O: I gave MJ a customized diamond pendant with 14K white gold, because my love for her is like a diamond—the result of a long and intensive process that cannot be broken.

Please share your favorite part in your vows to each other.

O: I will try to lessen my monologues. But when I can’t avoid it, I will make sure my lines are award-winning!

M: When I promised him that I would show more emotions since Oscar was the one who first paved the way for me to be open in a relationship.

Any funny anecdote as newlyweds?

O: We were too overwhelmed by being newly married that we were too conscious to argue!

M: We partied too much at our wedding reception that we forgot all our stuff the day after! Thank God the planner sent everything to us! We were still wearing our wedding outfits the day after!

What’s the best marriage advice that your principal sponsors gave you?

O: Ninong Arnold Clavio told us that whatever trait we discover about each other after marriage, we must accept. And we must pray together. Howie Severino told us to be each other’s best friend.

M: TV5 boss Noel Lorenzana said to never forget the words yes, sorry and thank you.

How do you settle arguments?

O: We let each other cool down first after every fight, but we made a pact that we won’t let the day pass without patching things up.

M: Forgiveness must be immediate.

How do you manage not to let your work get in the way of your marriage?

O: Although we support and encourage each other, we never meddle with each other’s work.

M: We respect each other’s schedule, but we value our quality time, too.

Do you swap network and newsroom stories and secrets?

M: Never! That’s part of the thrill.

O: When GMA 7 gets a scoop ahead of TV 5 or vice versa, we rib each other about it.

Where will your honeymoon be, and how many kids do you plan to have?

M: We plan to go to Italy, Germany and France this March. If time permits, we also would like to see Prague.

O: We plan to have kids two years from now. We intend to have two or three.

If you were to report about your marriage, what would the headline be?

O and M: “Kapuso, nagpakasal sa Kapatid upang mag-Kapamilya.”
