The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Sunday clarified that it does not condone the showing of pirated movies in any of its offices.
The statement was issued following the tweets of comedian and actor Vice Ganda who called out the DFA for supposedly playing a pirated copy of Star Cinema movie “A Second Chance.”
The DFA said that they are already investigating the matter and vowed that the personnel responsible for the showing of the will be slapped with disciplinary action.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs has never authorized any showing of pirated movies in any of its passport satellite offices in Metro Manila. We are looking into the complaint and personnel found involved will be dealt with disciplinary action in accordance with existing rules and regulations,” the statement read.
On February 5, Vice Ganda retweeted Star Cinema’s advertising and promotions manager Mico del Rosario who took a photo of the said movie being shown at the DFA’s office in Ali Mall.
Del Rosario said in his caption: “Dear DFA Ali mall, bakit po kayo nagpapalabas ng pirated copy ng A Second Chance diyan? Blatant na po talaga ang paglabag sa batas? Umm… Government agency po kayo?”
In his retweet, Vice Ganda hit the DFA for supposedly being calloused.
“This is DISGUSTING!!! Hoy DFA Ali Mall ang garapal nitong ahensya ng gobyerno na ito!!!” he said.

The comedian also joked that the office should have just played his blockbuster Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2015 entry “Beauty and the Bestie” instead.
