The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has launched an investigation on the ABS-CBN primetime soap “On The Wings of Love” after a scene showing actor James Reid stripping in police uniform drew flak from social media.

In the Radyo Inquirer program “MTRCB Uncut,” MTRCB Chair Eugenio “Toto” Villareal said that the agency has already sent out invitations for a dialogue to ABS-CBN and the Philippine National Police to address the issues surrounding the controversial January 11 episode.

The dialogue is set on January 25.

“Concrete steps can be taken; aalamin natin saan ba nagkaroon ng problema, at doon sa dialogue, hahanapan natin iyon ng solusyon,” Villareal said.

Reid’s striptease scene came under fire from netizens and even from policemen, saying that the actor’s depiction was allegedly disrespectful to their uniform.

In the said episode, Reid stripped and danced on top of Nadine Lustre while donning a PNP general office uniform with a Quezon City Police District badge and an SPO4 rank.

ABS-CBN has since issued an apology to those who have been offended by the scene.

It said that it has no intention to disrespect the uniform of the PNP and vowed that it will not happen again. AJH/ With a report from Dona Dominguez-Cargullo, Radyo Inquirer
