Awards fulfill wishes
The newly launched FM radio station Wish 107.5, whose programming focuses on pop music and utilizes social media to engage its listeners, will hold its first music awards-cum-concert on Jan. 26 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The event is set to hand out trophies in 13 categories, including young artist of the year, male artist of the year and female artist of the year.
The awardees, who will be given the opportunity to grant their respective chosen beneficiaries’ wish, will be adjudged by a panel composed of industry players (50 percent) and audiences’ votes (50 percent).
Listeners can cast their votes by logging on to wish1075.com/wishawards; the poll closes on the day of the awards night at 12 p.m.
Formerly the iconic NU 107 that played rock music, Wish 107.5 caters to a broader demographic, with programs that pipe out different musical genres (“Morning Wish by Tbowne”), share listeners’ stories (“Whispers of Love with Dr. Clarke”), etc.
Perhaps the station’s most interesting component is “The Road Show with Jelly Kiss,” which brings music around the metro through an FM mobile bus, which also features live performances. Allan Policarpio
