‘OTWOL’ apologizes for striptease: ‘No intention to disrespect PNP’
ABS-CBN primetime series “On the Wings of Love” (OTWOL) on Wednesday apologized for a scene that aired on its Jan. 11 episode showing actor James Reid stripping in a policeman uniform.
In a statement, ABS-CBN said OTWOL did not intend to disrespect the Philippine National Police (PNP), after drawing flak in social media that the scene degraded cops’ image.
“‘On the Wings of Love’ would like to apologize for a short scene that aired last Monday, which showed the main character Clark dancing as a policeman for Leah in her bridal shower,” ABS-CBN said in a statement.
“The program has called the attention of its production team and assures the public that there was no intention to disrespect the sanctity of the Philippine National Police (PNP) uniform. We do not want to jeopardize our good relations with the PNP and will make sure that it will not happen again,” the statement read.
In the Monday episode of the show, Reid, wearing a PNP general office uniform with a Quezon City Police District badge and an SPO4 rank, stripped and danced on top of actress Nadine Lustre. YG/RC
