New posters for DC’s iconic ‘Trinity’

DC Comics’ three biggest superheroes—Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman—are uniting in the much-anticipated 2016 action epic, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” directed by “Watchmen’s” Zack Snyder. The Justice League’s “big three” are finally together, as shown in recent trailers.

Played by Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, respectively, the trio (dubbed DC’s “Trinity” in the comics) graces new posters for the movie, set to debut in March.

DC currently has hit live-action shows—“Gotham,” “Arrow,” “The Flash” and “Supergirl”—which don’t belong in the same realm as “Batman v Superman,” partly intended to start DC’s own cinematic universe.

Early this year, a teaser poster of amphibious hero Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa in “Batman v Superman,” was released. To comic book fans’ surprise, this wasn’t the blond, blue-eyed Caucasian who wore a scaly orange costume; he looked more like Marvel’s “King of the Seas” counterpart Namor, the “savage” Sub-Mariner.

Aside from “Batman v Superman,” other comic book-based movies scheduled to be released next year are “Deadpool,” about a “quip-happy” mercenary; “X-Men: Apocalypse,” which pits the mutants against an immortal foe; “Suicide Squad,” centering on super-criminals covertly assembled by the US government; “Captain America: Civil War,” which splits the Marvel heroes into opposing factions; and “Doctor Strange,” about a doctor-turned-sorcerer hero.
