In a special call to action, actor Harrison Ford has urged the public to take selfies as a way of “bringing nature’s voice” to the ongoing climate negotiations in Paris.
“The United Nations Climate Conference is bringing leaders from around the world to Paris. Take a picture and use the hashtag #IneedNature. Nature is speaking. It’s up to us to give her a voice,” said Ford in a short Facebook video uploaded by Conservation International.
The environmental group said the selfies will serve as reminder to world leaders meeting in the French capital that nature is “at least 30 percent of the solution” to the global problem of climate change.
“We saw increasing recognition in Paris that nature is essential to addressing the climate crisis. Germany, Norway and the United Kingdom’s pledge of US$5 billion for forest conservation was a watershed moment,” Conservation International said.
“Momentum is building, but we still have a long way to go,” it added.
Harrison Ford is known for his roles in the “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” movies. YG
