Robin Padilla has mixed emotions about his movie with daughter Kylie not making it as one of the Metro Manila Filmfest entries. ER Ejercito’s movie will take Binoe’s slot.
“Ako’y nalulungkot para kay Kylie ngunit masaya ako para sa kaibigan kong si ER,” Binoe told me. “Wala akong masasabi sa MMFF kundi pagpupugay at maraming salamat.”
Doesn’t he feel bad at all? “Wala akong tampo kahit kanino. Bata pa naman si Kylie at marami pang darating na pagkakataon para sa kanya.”
Since Binoe and I go a long way back, I must say that he has mellowed a lot. His wife Mariel definitely has such a soothing effect on him. Binoe has changed for the better but his good old charms have stayed the same.
No Nora, either
Speaking of MMFF, Nora Aunor’s movie, “Hototay” (Regal Films), won’t be in the festival, either. Roselle Monteverde let me in on the story behind the story. “There are problems with Nora’s schedule,” she explains. “She has to finish commitments with her TV soap before she can start the movie. So we can start filming only in November. We don’t want to rush it for MMFF. So now our play date for the ‘dramedy’ will be in January.” Hintay muna, “Hototay”!
Catching up
It was such a joy to catch up with my kinakapatid, Lotlot de Leon, at Uno Bar. She was with friends Sharmaine Suarez, and Mymy Davao, her brother Kiko and his girlfriend Jen. I asked her about the rumored tampuhan with her mom, Nora Aunor “It’s been blown out of proportion,” Lotlot said. “I’ve seen Mama twice already—a few days after she arrived and when I visited her in the hospital recently. No need for fanfare or cameras for that. I wanted to keep it private to make it more meaningful. Ayokong maging spectacle ang relationship namin.”
All moms and kids have episodes in their never-ending story but they always manage to love happily ever after. Sometimes the best relationships are the inexplicable ones.
Doting mom
Yayo Aguila was the picture of a doting mom to her daughter, Patrizha at the event of Shot magazine (where Pat works as marketing director) in 7th High (The Fort). I asked if she had reconciled with William Martinez, who is recovering from a stroke. “We still live apart,” Yayo said, “and our kids shuttle between my place and his. I will always care for him, but differently now. Napapagod din ang puso. I’m happy he is back to normal, though he cannot do multi-tasking. He has resumed taping for shows but he can work only during the day. A total change of lifestyle for him. Siningil na siya ng katawan niya. He has to slow down.” It’s good that William has gotten a second lease on life but, too bad, no more second time around with Yayo.
