Alfred Vargas readily accepted a walk-on part in the screen biopic, “Felix Manalo,” and he would have done it for free—because that’s how he misses acting! The actor-turned-politician keeps himself abreast with show biz happenings.
We were happy to see Alfred during the post-birthday dinner he recently hosted at Victorino’s, where he shared his thoughts on issues close to his heart. Sensing the public’s renewed interest in movies about national heroes, he bared plans to reissue “Ang Supremo,” which he produced a few years ago.
Inspired by the success of “Heneral Luna,” he enthuses, “Andres Bonifacio’s life is also full of controversy, like Luna and Aguinaldo. Our heroes have colorful stories that deserve to be retold!” Manuel Quezon also fascinates Alfred, who also hopes to portray the former president.
Among his colleagues, he expressed admiration for Vilma Santos-Recto, for balancing politics and show biz well. As a public servant, he bats for the construction of low-cost housing for his constituents in Quezon City.
