Garden with antimosquito plants

Zeny Panganiban recently built a three-house compound in Blue Ridge with a large lanai facing the swimming pool. She wanted a lush garden with a lot of flowers.

But, Zeny has two grandchildren, so she was concerned about the dengue-causing mosquitoes that gardens potentially attract. So, she asked Marlene Aguilar if it was possible to have a flower garden that wouldn’t attract mosquitoes.

Marlene told her, “Yes. In certain areas of the garden, add antimosquito plants—a natural insecticide. They aren’t difficult to grow—most people are just not aware of them!”

These days, Zeny sits in her lanai after she arrives home from work, feasting on the sight of her garden full of flowering plants, some of them natural mosquito repellents!

Her antimosquito garden includes snow bush, pink and yellow lantana, Philippine oregano, peppermint and basil.
