Joey de Leon’s tweets taunt rival, irk fans

It’s not yet over.

GMA-7’s “Eat Bulaga” host Joey de Leon has continued to post cryptic tweets last Tuesday, some say are quips against rival noontime program of ABS-CBN “It’s Showtime.”

In between promoting his shows and “AlDub,” the hit love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (popularly known as Yaya Dub in the show’s segment “Kalyeserye”), De Leon has supposedly been making fun of Showtime and its host Vice Ganda.

Such speculations were further bolstered when he started referring to horse racing, supposedly alluding to Vice Ganda who has played the lead role in the remake of the film “Petrang Kabayo.”

The first tweet “Like LOVE, ang CAREER ay hindi minamadali. Ang minamadali lang na karera ay sa KABAYO! #ALDUBKeyToForever” (Like LOVE, CAREER should not be rushed. The only thing that is rushed in a race is the HORSE!) received almost 8,000 retweets while the second “I repeat, wag madaliin ang career. Treat it like LOVE. Wag itulad sa karera ng KABAYO, tapos agad! #ALDUBKeyToForever” (I repeat, don’t rush career. Treat it like LOVE.  Don’t treat it like a horse race that easily ended!) received 13,000 retweets.

Many of his fans cheered his witty post, saying only those who are guilty will react.

“Very true indeed!” said @cristy_0921.

“Ikaw na! Henyo ka talaga. I really like this,” @pipo_cruise posted.

(You already! You are really a genius. I really like this.)

However, there were also a few commenters who accused him of being disrespectful.

One user said Eat Bulaga’s fans act like dogs, following the example of the host.

“You’ve become a very mean person, so disappointing. I was even a fan of your wit before. Not anymore. May God forgive you and your arrogance,” said a user with the Twitter handle @april_luther.

Meanwhile, Aldub fan @Aldub_CA_USA said De Leon should not be boastful. “Bagsak na nga ang kabila, talagang binabagsak pa lalo. You’re not following lola’s lessons.”

“Sana tama na ang mga parinig. Use your influence to spread good vibes,” the Twitter user further said.

De Leon is not backing down though and has been responding to his “haters.”
