TURN unused space into your very own minifarm.

Sol Gosayco-Dy attended culinary school, so she wanted to grow her own food, and dreamed of having a lush garden of herbs at home. Unfortunately, she had limited space in her backyard.

Then, she met Marlene Aguilar, who had found a way to turn a portion of her home into a gorgeous garden that mixes fruit-bearing trees and vegetables with herbs and ornamental plants. She told Sol, “Why buy if you can grow them yourself?”

Marlene told Sol that it isn’t hard to take care of a kitchen garden, as long as you choose the right herbs, vegetables and trees to grow. She added, “If you don’t have a lot of space, build a terrace by rip-rapping the wall with three or four steps—that way, you’ll have a hanging garden that expands your space.”

One week after following Marlene’s advice, Sol was already enjoying the mixture of pleasant scents coming from the lovely garden outside her kitchen—she finally had an organic garden to call her own!
