Perky Star was chatting with Feisty Relative and some pals after dinner in a posh resto. Talk turned to PS’ former flame, Closeted Charmer.
As PS recited a litany of woes, FR smirked sarcastically.
PS was trying to justify CC’s inconsistencies. FR couldn’t take it any longer and blurted out: CC is gay!
PS tried to change the topic.
Perhaps noticing that other diners might have overheard the outburst, FR explained: In show biz, “gay” is a term of endearment.
OK.
Tic-tac, too
Bubbly Performer is addicted to cosmetic enhancements. All those procedures had a bizarre side effect on BP, though.
BP has acquired a strange facial tic.
BP’s face would twitch this way and that every so often—and the disturbing spasm was quite noticeable especially up close.
That was the reason why a scene had to be reshot a dozen times. All that jerky movement was upstaging BP’s costars.
Causing a commotion
During her prime, Sultry Starlet would juggle five boyfriends at the same time.
Nosy Neighbor would invariably get nervous upon seeing SS’ gentlemen callers drive by on the street.
One day, NN would bump into Gawky Entertainer; the next night, it would be Controversial Politico’s turn. Once, CP, obviously drunk as a skunk, threatened to gun down his rivals.
NN hid behind the drapes, while CP caused a commotion in the village.
Conspiracy
It wasn’t the first time Influential Insider conspired with cohorts to undermine Popular Star.
In the past, II pulled strings to make sure Catty Rival would outshine PS. Fast-forward to the here and now: Supporters suspect that II is behind the latest setback suffered by PS.
Interestingly, II’s bets were showered with plaudits while PS was egregiously snubbed.
To think II wouldn’t have reached current position of power without the help of PS and Wealthy Relatives.
Illusions of grandeur
From the Inquirer tabloid Bandera:
Show promoter was eyeing Seasoned Hunk for a possible gig abroad. Alas, the impresario got shocked when SH divulged his talent fee.
For someone who is not that active in the biz, SH’s asking price is way too high for the neophyte producer.
Worse, SH refused to lower the amount. “Take it or leave it” was SH’s stance.
Perhaps SH is under the illusion that he is still in demand and popular.
Uh-oh.
‘The Legend of Juan Pawikan’
Author Celine Beatrice Fabie and illustrator Benjor Catindig’s new book, “The Legend of Juan Pawikan and the 7,107 Islands,” re-imagines the origin of the country’s islands.
Winston Cabiles Jr., former contestant of “The Voice Kids,” read excerpts at the launch. Fabie, also a singer-actress, relates: “The mission of ‘Juan Pawikan’ is to inspire … parents to talk to their children about marine wildlife and ocean conservation.”
The book has been receiving support from environmentalists. There will be a children’s reading at Powerbooks Greenbelt on Oct. 31. For details, visit the Saving Juan Pawikan Facebook page.
Top of the Talk Shows
For those who missed last weekend’s “CelebriTV” on GMA 7 (and why we are moved, if we are moved):
Pauleen Luna on fiancé Vic Sotto: “Four years na kami so kilalang-kilala ko na siya at wala nang pretensions. He’s a kind and sweet person.” (Uuuy!)
Pauleen, asked about wedding preparations: “So far, siguro nasa 60 percent na.” (Over halfway done!)
Alden Richards, asked to describe Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza using the letters in her name: “Marvelous, adorable, intelligent, nice, energetic.” (Parang cheer dance. Give me an M!)
Alden on saving up for his future: “Long-term ako kapag nag-isip. So lahat ng kinikita ko sa events, endorsements, shows [tinatabi ko]. Ang objective ko ay magpatayo ng apartment at bigyan ng magandang buhay ang family ko.” (Good boy.)
Alden, asked what he thinks it’s like to hang out with Maine: “Feeling ko masarap siya kasama, walang dull moment.” (Hmm …)
Gerald Anderson, asked if he’s ready to be in a new relationship: “Hindi eh. Hindi ko pa nga nakikita ang bahay ko for the past two weeks. So anong oras ang maibibigay ko para sa magiging girlfriend ko?” (Time management workshop, anyone?)
Jaya on mom Elizabeth Ramsey’s peaceful death: “Masaya ako dahil hindi siya nahirapan. Feeling ko nasa heaven siya, having a blast and doing rock ’n’ roll.” (Love and light for the Queen of Rock.)
