As the presidential candidates come marching in, does the lineup make us cheer with excitement or shudder with dread for the next election? The political circus is in town. Before we get caught up in the frenzy, I cornered some celebs and asked them what kind of presidential candidate they would vote for.
My bet would be someone who is willing to do more than what’s in the job description— someone who will be there above and beyond the call of duty.
Ryan Cayabyab
I sincerely wish for a President who has the intelligence, courage and enthusiasm to inspire fellow Filipinos to move as one progressive nation.
Eugene Domingo
I will vote for someone who sincerely cares for the country’s future, and will give importance to urban planning—a leader who will prioritize programs that will create decent jobs for many people, even those who live outside Metro Manila. I also hope that the next President will give more support and attention to the arts.
Jose Javier Reyes
I want a leader with a vision and not mere promises. A President who is not beholden to his political party but to the principles that he or she represents… this is the kind of leader we need, someone who can offer concrete, long-term plans that empower people through education and employment opportunities. In other words, a President whose heart and mind are for the Filipino people.
Ryan and Judy Ann Agoncillo
Now that our third baby, Luna, is coming, we are looking for a leader who will make life comfortable and peaceful for our children, and all the children and families in our country.
Benjie Paras
I would go for the candidate who could put an end to corruption once and for all. Sad to say, it seems that corruption is already a way of life in all levels of our society.
Joross Gamboa
I would choose someone who acts for the good of others, someone who is selfless and who believes that the key to happiness is giving.

Premium family
I am more than delighted to be part of the Smart Infinity (SI) family. It combines digital swag and the best perks. SI is Smart Communications’ premium postpaid brand. It has gone full throttle by bringing the acclaimed musical “Les Miserables” to Manila next year.
This was announced during a swanky launch at the Rockwell Tent recently. At the fete, National Artist Benedicto Cabrera merged art and technology by sketching with the use of SI’s gift to him, a Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
“If you’re into gadgets or world-class entertainment or shopping and travel, we’ve got that all covered with our special packages,” said James Chi, marketing manager of SI.
Infinity members will be the first to get tickets when the musical opens in March 2016. Get two VIP orchestra tickets, a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 or a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and PAL Mabuhay Miles when you subscribe to Plan 5000 or Plan 8000, complete with the free download of the music of “Les Miserables” via Spinnr.
Current members also get a 10-percent discount on tickets. (The offer is valid until Oct. 29.)
“Les Miz” should not be missed!
Pastillas saga
Angelica Jane Yap, aka Ms. Pastillas, opened her heart to the public, sharing her story on “It’s Showtime’s” “AdVice Ganda” segment.
The show became interactive and netizens’ tweets were aired on TV. Viewers shared their messages of encouragement for her to move on in life and love. Single men went to the studio to get a chance to date her.
Angelica had a face-to-face encounter with her ex-boyfriend and finally had closure in a tearful encounter on the show.
In her journey of healing, the madlang people, netizens and the show’s hosts joined Angelica in her journey to find Mr. Right.
Will her “happy ever after” be as sweet as pastillas?
